RAF Tornados flypast over Burnham today marks active service retirement

-

Three RAF Tornados are due to fly over Burnham-On-Sea today (Wednesday) as part of their tour around the UK prior to their retirement by the end of March.

The planes are scheduled to fly over at about 1-30pm on their way to south Wales, subject to weather and operations.

The aircraft are being flown over many of the country’s RAF bases this week in a series of flypasts before leaving active service.

Tornados first took to the skies in 1979, seeing action in several conflicts, and were first used in live operations during the Gulf War in 1991.
