£100,000 plans to expand Berrow tourist attraction get the go-ahead

A tourist attraction in Berrow is set to expand with the introduction of £100,000 of new facilities.

Animal Farm in Red Road, Berrow has been given permission by Sedgemoor District Council to build a huge outdoor play castle, pictured right, and extend its existing play barn.

The park’s Krystal Finch told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “We’re delighted to have got permission from the council to go ahead. The new play castle and fort will be a particularly exciting new addition.”

“It will be a massive new outdoor play complex that will feature lots of areas for children to climb and explore. It will be our biggest new development for four years.”

“It will be partially built from recycled plastic and will be very durable and long-lasting. There will also be soft flooring installed inside and around it, plus seating areas for tired parents!”

She added that the new castle is scheduled to open by early August in time for the peak summer holiday period.

The tourist attraction has also been given planning permission to proceed with the expansion of its play barn, which is scheduled to go ahead over the next year.

The extension will provide additional space for indoor facilities during wet weather.

Krystal said the park has had a busy start to the season. “The weather was against us in the early part of the year but things have picked up and we have been really busy in recent weeks.”

“We hope that the good weather continues over the summer holidays and look forward to seeing lots of visitors.”
