Highbridge’s Apex Park gets £30,000 new outdoor gym in upgrade plan

-

More than £50,000 is to be spent on new outdoor play areas and leisure facilities across the Burnham-On-Sea area, it has been announced this week.

Sedgemoor District Council’s Grants Committee has earmarked funds from local housing developers for three new projects.

£30,000 of community contributions from local housing developers will go towards the provision of a state-of-the-art outdoor gym facility in Highbridge’s Apex Park.

Also, East Brent Parish Council is to receive £10,000 towards the installation of new play equipment in Rooksbridge play area.

And West Huntspill Parish Council will receive £11,699 towards the installation of a new toddler swing, goal and ECO-bond surfacing in the village’s Ilex Park play area.

The Apex Park project will go out to tender shortly with the completion of the project expected by Spring 2017, says the council.

Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have recently installed an outdoor gym in Coronation Park on the Parkway in Bridgwater so whilst Apex will not be the same, it is likely to be similar.”
