New £30,000 outdoor gym opens at Highbridge’s Apex Park

-

A new £30,000 outdoor gym has opened at Highbridge’s Apex Park this week.

The state-of-the-art outdoor gym, which is open to all at no charge, is being funded from £30,000 of community funds from local housing developers as part of ‘RLT2’ and ‘RLT3’ developer contributions held by Sedgemoor District Council.

The modern gym includes a cross trainer, arm pull down, shoulder press, spinning bike, chest press, seated rower, dips and leg raise unit, leg press and sit-up bench, plus space for warming up and cooling down.

The project has also introduced a new link path created near to the existing play facilities together with the gym equipment installed within.

All of the new gym equipment features QR codes that allow users to see instructional videos when scanned using smartphones.

Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Sam Taylor told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “At a time when people are struggling to find money for gym fees or sporting activities this is a great way to get or stay healthy without having to spend a single penny.”

“Sedgemoor District Council would like to thank The Friends of Apex Park and residents for working with us to support this fantastic project.”
