Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Army Cadets are inviting local people to drop in and find out more about their activities during an open day on Sunday, 20th September.
The event will run from 10am to 4pm at the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Army Cadet Centre, just off Marine Drive (TA8 1LT), with entry via the gate marked by the What3Words location Radically, Caller, Shelved.
Visitors will be able to meet the team, see what the Army Cadet Force does, and learn about opportunities for both young people and adult volunteers.
The group says no military experience is required to join, with most volunteers coming from civilian backgrounds and learning through hands‑on involvement.
“If you do have military experience, that won’t go unnoticed,” say organisers, “as you already have many of the skills and knowledge we’re looking for, allowing you to progress through training faster.”
The unit is also keen to recruit new cadets aged 12–17, offering training in Fieldcraft, First Aid, Navigation and other subjects that help develop confidence, leadership and teamwork.
“This will be a great chance for anyone interested in the ACF to come along and try some of the activities we provide,” said a spokesperson. “We’re proud to offer opportunities for young people and adults alike across Burnham-On-Sea, Highbridge and the surrounding area.”
The open day is free to attend, and organisers hope to welcome visitors throughout the day to learn more about volunteering and cadet life.
