Balmy Burnham-On-Sea gets a summer trade boost as visitors head in

-

Tourism businesses in Burnham-On-Sea enjoyed a busy Bank Holiday weekend, with trade boosted by the mostly good weather.

These were the scenes in Burnham on Monday when the town’s beach and holiday parks were busy with visitors during the final days of the school holidays.

Sedgemoor District Council said the town’s beach had been busier than previous August Bank Holiday weekends, with hundreds enjoying the good weather.

Town Centre Manager Bev Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was great to see the town centre bustling on Saturday. Talking to traders, at least one had the best day’s trade ever and there was lots of positivity.”

“Sunday was much quieter with the patchy rain dampening footfall in the early part of the day, when people make their decision on where to go for the day. Monday saw the beach busy, but the town centre shops quieter.”

Sonya Fudge at the Bay View Cafe told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve had a busy few days. The weather has been uncertain and changeable at times, though, so it’s not been a record Bank Holiday.”

Christine Lewis, who runs The Treasure Chest gift shop on The Esplanade, added: “It has been busy at times. Undoubtedly, the sunshine brings out the visitors.”
