One of the final tasks for Sedgemoor District Council’s outgoing Chairman, Councillor Peter Downing, was to present a cheque for £1,040 to BARB Search & Rescue.

The monies were collected over Cllr Downing’s term of office from various raffles and donations.

Cllr Downing said: “I chose BARB as my official charity, not only because of their dedication and numerous rescues in the Burnham-On-Sea area, but because of their help to residents in Sedgemoor during the winter floods of 2013/2014.”

BARB Chairman Mark Newman warmly thanked Cllr Downing for his support of the charity, which operates two rescue hovercrafts and two inshore rescue boats.
