Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue has come to the aid of an independent rescue charity in Wales which lost much of its life-saving equipment in a devastating fire.

When BARB heard about the major fire at Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team in November — which caused £500,000 worth of damage — it wanted to help.

So BARB got in touch with the charity to find out what equipment it needs to replace and offered to donate several surplus water rescue kits, which are unused due to upgrades over time.

This week, two of the Welsh charity’s members, Marc Benson and Greg Brown, visited Burnham-On-Sea to receive the kit.

Greg thanked BARB for the “generous donation,” saying: “Our water rescue gear was destroyed in the fire at our base, so enormous thanks go to our colleagues at BARB for this wonderful gesture, as a result of which our water Search And Rescue capability is now very close to being restored.”
