Four youths arrested by police after Berrow barn blaze

-

Four youths were arrested by police on Sunday (January 28th) following a suspicious barn fire at Berrow.

Burnham-On-Sea police and fire crews were called to Barton Road at 4.20pm after the contents of a barn beside the road were spotted on fire.

A police spokesman confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com that two PCSOs had apprehended the youths following the “suspicious” blaze.

“Four boys were arrested – a 15 year-old from Burnham, a 15 year-old from Highbridge who were both bailed, plus a 14 year-old and 16 year-old who were released without charge.”

The officers, pictured here, helped local people tackle the blaze to prevent it spreading before fire fighters arrived.

A fire spokeswoman confirmed that the blaze was being treated as suspicious, but added that there had been no damage to the barn itself, only to the contents.
