Budding stars of the future from across the Burnham-On-Sea area took part in the auditions for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in Brean on Wednesday evening (October 14th).

The team behind the top ITV talent show were at Brean’s Holiday Resort Unity to film possible performers for the upcoming new series. Each of the local acts was filmed performing and they will find out in a few months whether they are through.

Ed K-T form Brent Knoll, 22, pictured top, impressed the audience with his guitar and great vocals. “It was great fun – I previously tried when I was 15 so I’m hoping that by trying again it will be second time lucky.”

Up-and-coming Burnham group Odds To End, below, wowed the audience with a powerful performance, which they said had been “so exciting” in front of the TV cameras and with so much local support in the audience.

Local magician Luke Perry, who has been performing tricks for eight years, said it is “my dream to make a career of it and go from Berrow to Vegas!”

Local singer Breeze, who previously won the Sky One talent show Don’t Stop Me Now four years ago, also auditioned. “I do it because I love the competition and I’d love to sing in front of Simon Cowell,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Wheelchair user Mark Humphries, from Street, impressed the audience with his rapping. “I’m doing this in memory of my friend Matt Smith, who died of kidney failure earlier this year,” he said. “I was absolutely buzzing after performing tonight and loved the great reaction of the crowd.”

Others included Emily Thomas, a local singer, twins Caitlin and Conor from Tamworth in Staffs. Father Mark Dodds said: “We often come to Brean on holiday and when we heard about the auditions we decided to come down after school so they could dance together.”

Eleazar Alexander from Weston, a soul singer, added: “I am loving the buzz here tonight – I sing at weekends and love the energy of the music.”

Jenny Bolton from Priddy gave a performance of her stirring classical crossover music. She previously took part in the local Mendip’s Got Talent contest.

Leanne Adams from Burnham also gave a great vocal performance during the evening. “I love singing – my friends put me forward for this and I’m very excited to be here and would love to go through to next year’s series,” she said.

Others auditioning were Alice Grant from Weston who sang Hallelujah, having previously reached the Weston’s Got Talent finals. “I’m used to this but it’s serious now and you do get nervous but I love it,” she said.

Scott Tandy on the drums, Spanish rapper Hector, and singer Sarah Louise also gave great performances to put themselves in with a shot of getting through the auditions onto the next series.

A Britain’s Got Talent spokesman said: “This year’s show marks our tenth anniversary, so it’s a really great year to take part.”
