Clocks were wound back to the 1940s in Burnham-On-Sea at the weekend for a nostalgic fundraising night.

‘Blitz at the Ritz’, a 1940’s wartime-themed evening of entertainment, was held on Saturday at The Ritz Social Club in Victoria Street.

The audience got into the spirit of the era by attending in 1940s clothing and enjoying nostalgic music and comedy.

“The blitz night was a great success with people coming from as far as Chesterfield to take part,” said Kathy Jones of Burnham Events Social Team (BEST).

“The land girls travelled from Coventry and in true 1940’s style got ‘stuck in’ and helped. We would like to thank everyone who came and got into the spirit of the night – there were so many great outfits and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

“Special thanks go to our entertainers Steve Holford, Em n Im and Paul ‘Chopper’ Harding, who between them kept the evening swinging. We also thank The Ritz, without whose support we’d be lost. We look forward to doing it again next year.”
