A 12lb cod won Burnham-On-Sea’s first boat fishing contest of 2015 on Sunday (January 4th).
Andy Georgiou, right, reeled in the 12lb 5.5oz catch from the waters off Burnham during the eight hour competition.
Four boats left Burnham’s beach at 8am to compete in The President’s Cup, overseen by Burnham Boat Owners Sea Angling Association.
First overall was Andy Georgiou, while second was Nigel Deavey with a dab and third was Mark Bowden with a whiting.
“It’s been a good start to the year – there are lots of fish out there,” said the club’s Simon Stroud.
