A body has been recovered next to the M5 between Burnham-On-Sea and Weston during searches for a missing man around the Bleadon area.
Police say that while formal identification has not yet been completed, they believe the body to be that of 52-year-old Scott Morris, who had not been seen since Thursday 23rd July.
A spokesman says: “Police were called at around 12.50pm to a location on the M5 northbound, between junctions 22 (Burnham-on-Sea) and 21 (Weston-super-Mare) near Loxton and Banwell, on Saturday 8 August following the discovery of a body.”
“Officers attended the scene and, while formal identification has not yet been completed, we believe the body to be that of 52-year-old Scott Morris, who has not been seen since Thursday 23 July.”
“His next of kin have been informed, and our thoughts are with them at this time.”
“The death is not being treated as suspicious, and we will prepare a file and carry out enquiries on behalf of the coroner.”
A team from Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue was called out in July to join a large multi‑agency search around Bleadon, near Weston, amid concern for the vulnerable missing man.
