A man whose body washed up on Burnham-On-Sea beach earlier in April is thought to be a missing 28-year-old, Police have said this week.
Avon and Somerset Police says the discovery came after a public appeal was issued earlier this month to trace a missing man named Jake.
Although formal identification has yet to be completed, police said his family have been made aware that a body found on Burnham-On-Sea beach on April 19th is believed to be Jake’s.
A spokesperson says: “Earlier this month we issued a public appeal to trace missing Jake, 28. Although formal identification has yet to be completed, his family have been made aware a body was found in Burnham on 19 April which we believe to be Jake. The cause of death is not believed to be suspicious.”
The force adds that it has shared the update on the man’s identity with Jake’s family’s knowledge, but ask that their privacy is respected.
Police, the South Western Ambulance Service and HM Coastguard were called to the scene at Burnham-On-Sea on April 19 after members of the public found the body at around 7.30pm, as reported here.
