In Photos: Burnham-On-Sea BosFest hailed a big success in first year

Hundreds of people headed into Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (September 9th) to support the town’s new ‘BosFest’ music festival.

Despite a day of showery weather, the entertainment event was be held across the town centre including Princess Street and Victoria Street plus the library, SS&L, Fairstart, The Ritz and The Princess Theatre.

As well as great music, there were comedians, story telling from local children’s authors, dance displays, craft activities, performers and more.

Tanya Dyer, one of the team organising the event, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a wonderful event with great live music and entertainment through the day for all tastes. The success surpassed our expectations and we thank everyone who came along and supported us in our first year.”

On the main stage at The Princess, Stray (pictured top) headlined the day as well as Gaz Brookfield, Little Thief, Baraka, Villians, Last One Home and Reach.

At the Ritz there was a ‘Comedy in your Lunchtime’ slot two hours of laughs from comedians Tony Cowards, Ade Bowen, Richard Baum, Maggie Whitehouse, Richard James and Dorian Wainwright, then a full programme of live music with Bostockbreeze Band, Drop the Mic, Lady Garden, 4$ band, Tim Dean, The Rosie and Ieuan Cornish.

In Burnham-On-Sea Library, the audience enjoyed Nutty Noah – Family Entertainer, James Wilmot (Con of the Crannog Author), pupils from Priory School reading stories from their published book) plus Action Pussycat and Huw Powell (Space Jackers author).

In the Somerset Skills and Learning courtyard there were displays from local groups Step Inside (line dancing), North Somerset Samba, DanceFit Somerset, Punch and Judy, Ceri Plested (Bollywood Dancing), Ukelele Group and Sea Side Strummers, Punch and Judy, Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society, Salsa and Jive Dancing, B-Elite Martial Arts, and Burning Salsa.

There was also kids crafts in Fairstart, plus circus skills, stalls, street art tours by the organiser of Spray Jam, Becky Hewlitt, as well as local spray artists creating a piece on a wall at the Victoria Hotel.

The group behind the free-to-attend community are planning to return next year at the same time with a second festival.
