A 4×4 that was lost to the incoming tide on Brean Beach after getting stuck in soft sand and mud on Tuesday evening has been recovered by a farmer using several tractors.

As first reported here, Paul Redfern from Bristol had driven his Vauxhall Frontera half a mile down the beach when its wheels got stuck, stranding it.

Neither Brean’s beachwarden or a team from Burnham’s BARB Search & Rescue was able to retrieve the vehicle in time before the tide reached it.

But on Wednesday, after two tides had swept over the vehicle, Brean farmer Richard Bigwood used his tractors to haul it out of the mud, as pictured here.

“The sea water had left it in a pretty poor condition, but it was taken away to a local holiday park for the owner to recover,” beach warden Kevin Williams told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
