A primary school teacher from Weston-super-Mare has won a £5,000 performing contract with Brean’s Unity Beach holiday park after winning a month-long singing contest.
Mum-of-two Suzanne Lake was named the winner of Search for a Star following a competition to find a new live act for the 2027 season.
After three rounds of heats, the final was held last Saturday night on the stage in the park’s RJ’s venue, with eight acts who had come through the heats taking part.
It was a performance of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, from the musical Les Misérables, which earned Suzanne victory.

Among the judging panel was Vinnie McKee, a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2025, who described her performance as “simply amazing”.
“You had me crying,” he told her afterwards, adding: “It was a performance packed full of emotion.”
Craig Smith, Unity Beach’s Entertainments Manager, who hosted the final, said: “Suzanne has an incredible voice that is exceptionally powerful.”
“She took the judges’ breath away with her performance of what is a huge song.” Suzanne’s prize means she will now perform a live show four times at Unity Beach during 2027.
