Brent Knoll Women’s Institute members gathered together to celebrate the group’s 90th anniversary on Wednesday (June 14th).

Thirteen of the Brent Knoll members, together with invited guests from other local WI groups, gathered at Brent Knoll Village Hall.

After singing Jerusalem, Brent Knoll WI Treasurer Margaret Smith, who was dressed as Lady Fox (the first President of Brent Knoll WI) and Elsie Reynish, the group’s eldest member, cut the celebratory cake pictured below.

The members were entertained by Burnham U3A’s ukulele band who played a super line-up of music from the 1920s through to the 1980s.

Two committee members accompanied them on the recorder and some even danced the twist!

The club’s Margaret Smith told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had an enjoyable afternoon celebrating Brent Knoll WI’s 90th anniversary.”

“After the entertainment we enjoyed a tea of sandwiches, scones, cakes, strawberries and cream.”
