Somerset Council is reminding households across Burnham and Highbridge to check their bin days ahead of the August Bank Holiday, with recycling and rubbish collections set to run one day later than usual.
There will be no collections on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August, meaning all rounds will move forward by one day for the rest of the week. Monday collections will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday, Wednesday’s on Thursday, and Thursday’s on Friday. Those who normally have a Friday collection will instead be visited on Saturday 5th September.
Residents are asked to put their bins, boxes and bags out on the revised collection day, or the night before, to ensure crews can complete their rounds smoothly.
Recycling sites that are normally open on Mondays will continue to operate as usual on the Bank Holiday, with opening hours running from 9am to 6pm.
Somerset Council is also encouraging households to make extra space in their recycling boxes by crushing and flattening items.
This simple step helps crews manage the increased volume of material that typically follows a long weekend and reduces the number of trips needed to empty vehicles.
