Burnham-On-Sea’s Moose International Lodge 123 has raised £366 towards next year’s charity handover evening following its annual Harvest Supper at Berrow Village Hall.
The event was held earlier month, with members and guests enjoying the lodge’s traditional meat salad meal served by catering manager Sandra and her team of helpers.
After the meal, those present were treated to a wide range of songs from singer and performer Maria Florey whose powerful and versatile voice was praised.
One change from previous years was the dropping of the usual produce auction, which was replaced by the raffle of a well-stocked fruit and vegetable hamper.
Once the entertainment had finished, thanks were given to the volunteers before the well-supported raffle was drawn.
Burnham Moose President Rita Harris said: “It was a lovely event, with good company, great food, and wonderful entertainment from Maria, plus a huge thank you to Pete and Sandra Nicholson, and all the other volunteers. The end result was a net profit of three hundred and sixty-six pounds raised towards our handover evening next year.”
Funds raised over the coming year will be presented to charity groups and local organisations at the lodge’s traditional 2027 handover evening.
Although Moose International has always been a fraternal organisation based on family values, it has moved to a ‘One Moose’ structure in which men and women have equal status. The lodge continues to raise money for charities and provide support to members. Membership is open to anyone aged 21 or over.
