Burnham‑On‑Sea’s Moose Lodge has donated an impressive £5,541 to a range of local charities and community groups following a full year of fundraising events and collection days.
The presentations were made on Thursday (26th March), marking the end of a busy year that included race nights, a harvest supper, a Valentine luncheon and several other social events.
Additional funds for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance were raised through supermarket collection days held throughout the year.
The Air Ambulance received the largest single donation of £3,250, handed over to representatives Colin Thomas and Anita Townsend, with the presentation made by Martin Eley on behalf of sponsor Dot Anderson, who was unwell.
Burnham RNLI received £1,041.62 as the nominated charity of Lodge 123 President Rita Harris for the second year running. The cheque was accepted by Nick Pople, Cherrill Davies, and Launch Authority Nigel Morton.
A series of £250 donations were also made to local groups. The Burnham & Highbridge Gateway Club received its cheque from sponsor Mike Lang, accepted by Club Leader Sally Meek and her granddaughter Alyx. The Space in Cheddar was supported by sponsor Pete Nicholson.
The Baptist Church Youth Club received £250 from sponsor Kevin Baker, with Leader Jacob Loveridge attending alongside a member of the leadership team. Freewheelers EVS accepted their donation through Andy Butler, sponsored by Khalil and Julia Kattana.
The Waffle Hub received its cheque from sponsor Terry Cornelius, accepted by trustees Steve and Liz Bennett, who also collected a further £250 on behalf of the Methodist Church Refurbishment Project, sponsored by Yvonne Cornelius.
The Friends of Burnham War Memorial Hospital also received £250, with Chairperson Ceri Joyce unable to attend; this donation was likewise sponsored by Yvonne Cornelius.
The Moose lodge thanked members, supporters and the wider community for their generosity throughout the year, helping to support a wide range of local causes.
