Burnham-On-Sea blood donor thanked by the NHS for his 50th blood donation

-

A kind-hearted Burnham-On-Sea man has been thanked by the NHS for his donations of blood.
Kevin Smart has been a donor since 1991 and has this week been recognised for giving his 50th donation.
Kevin said: “I started giving blood in 1991 after losing my dear mum to cancer. I wanted to give something back and have rarely missed a donation session.”
“If I can help others by giving up an hour of my time then I will carry on as long as possible.”
He adds that he loves receiving text messages to tell him where his blood has gone, which has included children’s hospitals to help leukaemia patients.
Kevin says that he feels “proud” to have reached his 50th donation and says he hopes to make it to his 100th.
