Burnham-On-Sea care home visited by local ukulele group, raising funds for hospice

-

Staff and residents at a Burnham-On-Sea care home have been entertained by a local ukulele group this week to mark a fun occasion.

Weston ukulele group headed to Burnham’s Towans Care Home to perform an afternoon of strumming.

The home’s Jo Boobyer said: “We were pleased to welcome the group on ‘National Play Your Ukulele Naked Day!’ – I kid you not! Weston ukulele group promised to keep their clothes on! We provided some leaves just in case to cover their modesty.”

“I think it’s easy to forget the the government do not fund Hospices. They survive on donations alone, and these fine people give up their time to entertain and raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.”

“Last year, they raised over £10,000 and have already raised over £1,500 so far this year and it’s only three months in.”

“Our residents absolutely loved them and they play such a variety of tunes and tell me that they know over 100. One thing’s for sure we will definitely be inviting them back again!”
