Members of Burnham-On-Sea’s All Sorts Community Choir will be joining a host of local performers later this month for a special fundraising concert.
Four singers from the All Sorts Choir will take part in the event in Axbridge, in memory of Lydia Biddlecombe and in support of a major new project at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
It is being organised by the choir’s pianist, Hannah Biddlecombe, as part of her ongoing fundraising for The Lydia Biddlecombe Star Tribute Fund.
Hannah and her husband Austen created the fund in memory of their daughter Lydia, who was born with a rare heart defect and sadly passed away at the age of four.
Inspired by her bright, joyful personality, the family has spent more than a decade raising awareness of congenital heart conditions and supporting other families whose children are undergoing cardiac care at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
Since 2012, their efforts have raised an impressive £70,000 through a wide range of community events.
Earlier this year, a special celebration was held to mark the start of construction on The Grand Appeal’s new Patient Hotel. This will be the first purpose-designed facility of its kind for children in the UK, offering vital accommodation for young patients and their families during treatment at Bristol Children’s Hospital. Funds raised from the upcoming concert will help support the continued construction of this landmark building.
The Celebration Concert, which would have marked Lydia’s 18th birthday, will take place on Saturday 25th April at 7.30pm at St John the Baptist Church in Axbridge.
The evening will feature a rich programme of music, including performances from singers representing several local choirs, individual soloists, The Clementines youth choir, and Starling, a well-loved local folk trio.
