The team behind Burnham-On-Sea’s award-winning food and drink festivals are counting down to their first festive festival in the town on Saturday 7th December, which will also include a new event – a mobility scooter rally.

The Burnham-On-Sea Christmas food festival will celebrate local producers during a large one-day market with added sparkle between 10 and 4pm with street food and entertainment all day.

The festival will take place along Victoria Street, College Street and the High Street and inside at the Methodist and Baptist churches.

Co-organiser Sarah Milner Simonds added:  “At the new festive food and drink festival, the organising team is launching a new element – a mobility scooter rally.”

“We design the festivals to be welcoming to everyone, but know that during day-to-day living sometimes poor design can get in everyone’s way, so we want to take advantage of our road closures and turn over the High Street to those, of all ages, who use mobility scooters.”

“We are encouraging people to ride into town on their wheels, park up centrally in the High Street between College and Cross Street (Cafe Beans/Chandni section), admire the other machines and enjoy the festival (on your wheels or not).”

“We will see how this new element is embraced and hope it will become a regular feature of our festivals and might be eventually evolve to be a stand alone event.”
