TODAY! Burnham-On-Sea Christmas lights switch-on – full times and schedule

A day of free festive entertainment will be held in Burnham-On-Sea town centre today (Saturday, November 23rd) in the run-up to Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis switching on the town’s Christmas lights.

Local X-Factor semi finalist Kezia Povey will be among those performing on the stage in Victoria Street from 1pm along with St Andrew’s School, Lisa Jane School of Dance, Siobhan Johnson Singers, Brent Knoll School Choir, Coastline Singers, “Amy Outhouse”, the Town Band, Mudlarks Community Choir, Rock Choir and Dusica Roberts.

Mr Eavis has been a long-time supporter of Burnham, frequently visiting the town, and he said in a national newspaper interview that the “laid back and unspoilt town” is his favourite place in Somerset.

Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade is organising the annual Christmas lights switch-on, with the support of the Town Council.

  • 12.45pm – 1.05pm St Andrew’s School
  • 1.10pm – 1.30pm Lisa Jane School of Dance
  • 1.35pm – 2.05pm Leah, Scarlet and Aleshia – Siobhan Johnson Singers
  • 2.10pm – 2.30pm Brent Knoll School Choir
  • 2.35pm – 2.55pm Coastline Singers
  • 3.00pm – 3.20pm “Amy Outhouse”
  • 3.25pm – 3.45pm Father Christmas arrives on a Train with gifts for children
  • 3.50pm – 4.20pm Kezia Povey: X-Factor semi-finalist
  • 4.30pm – 4.50pm Burnham and Highbridge Town Band
  • 4.55pm – 5.15pm Mudlarks Community Choir
  • 5.20pm – 5.40pm Rock Choir Burnham-On-Sea

“A day of festive entertainment will be held through the afternoon leading up to the switch-on,” said a Chamber spokesman. “There will be musicians, dancers and singers from the local area performing all day alongside stalls, attractions and Christmas donkeys.”

Michael Eavis will hit the plunger at 6pm to light up the town centre for Christmas.

The event will be held in Victoria Street next to the town’s Christmas tree at the junction with the Victoria Hotel.
