Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards and RNLI called out to search for missing person

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Coastguards and RNLI lifeboat crews were called out on Wednesday morning (November 10th) to search for a missing person.

There were concerns for the welfare of a young person who was reported to be missing near the River Parrett between Bridgwater and Burnham.

An RNLI spokesman says: “The Burnham-On-Sea D class lifeboat was scrambled by Coastguards at 10.51am to liaise with Police and Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard during a search of the River Parrett at Bridgwater.”

“The Burnham inshore lifeboat ‘Burnham Reach’ was speedily launched and the volunteers proceeded towards Bridgwater.”

“Once on the scene, they searched diligently, without success, until eventually the search was called off, and returned to Burnham-On-Sea for recovery and washdown.”

It was later confirmed that the missing person had ultimately been found safe and well.
