Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard volunteers will play host to a team of fundraisers as they take on an extraordinary 50‑hour endurance mission in aid of the Coastguard Association’s 50th anniversary.
A dedicated group known as the Coasties 50 50 team will travel from Polzeath in Cornwall to Portishead, visiting 14 Coastguard stations along the route — including Burnham-On-Sea — as part of a non‑stop multi‑discipline challenge involving running, cycling, swimming and kayaking.

The team sets off from Polzeath at midday on Friday 19th June, aiming to reach Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard Rescue Station at approximately 8.40am on Sunday 21st June, before continuing on to Weston, Clevedon and finally Portishead for a planned finish at 2pm.
The challenge marks 50 years of the Coastguard Association, which provides vital welfare and financial support to serving and retired Coastguard personnel. Organisers say every mile covered is a tribute to the volunteers who keep UK coastlines safe year-round.
A spokesperson for the Coasties team said the route has been designed to “connect the stations that represent the heart of our coastal communities,” adding that the group hopes to raise significant funds through sponsorship and donations.
A Coastguard spokesperson said the team will receive a warm welcome: “It’s an impressive undertaking and we’re proud to be one of the stations supporting them on their journey. The Coastguard Association does important work, and we’re pleased to help shine a light on it.”
Donations can be made via the official fundraising page.
