A cheque for £200 has been presented to Burnham-On-Sea community garden by the town’s Tesco store for a new public bench.
The money was raised from the sale of second-hand books at the store in recent months.
The funds were presented to the group’s Francis Gates, who helps at the community garden at Crosses Pen beside the Manor Gardens. The donation will go towards a new bench.
The garden, run by the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Green Team, has grown quickly since it launched in the spring.
Volunteers and local groups have added raised beds, a shed, water butts, compost bins and planting, and a picnic bench already on the site has become a popular spot for people to sit and enjoy the space.
Organisers have previously said they hope to add more benches as the garden develops, along with a wheelchair-friendly path and raised beds designed for wheelchair users.
Anyone wanting to support the project or join working sessions can contact the Green Team at bandhgreenteam@gmail.com.
