The final go-ahead has been given to a sparkling fireworks display on Burnham-On-Sea seafront this evening (Sunday, November 3rd) despite wet weather.

Burnham and Highbridge Town Council is organising the spectacular Grand Fireworks Display, which will start at 6.30pm as planned despite showers of rain passing through the area.

The Met Office says there is likely to be light rain and a gentle onshore breeze during the event.

The 20-minute display will be fired into the sky from the beach and jetty, and is being overseen by Skyburst, the Bristol-based firework company, to a musical accompaniment.

A full scaffolding launch platform will not be required on the jetty this year due to the tide times.

A council spokeswoman added: “Everyone is welcome to The Esplanade to view the display, noting that a safety exclusion zone will be in place on the beach which will be closed to the public.”

“Entry to watch the display is free, but donations are welcomed. We look forward to welcoming spectators for a fun-filled spectacular!”

The event is funded by Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council with the support of local businesses including Northam Farm, Home Farm holiday park, Positive Wealth Creation, Highbridge Caravans and Newcombe Caravan Park.

Burnham Rotary Club will be collecting donations on the night in aid of local charities and will be the only registered collection group. They will be assisted by local cadets.
