Burnham-On-Sea fish and chip shop joins bid to set new Guinness World Record

-

Two Burnham-On-Sea residents have this week taken part in a unique nationwide event to set a new Guinness World Record for the most people simultaneously eating fish and chips online!

Scott Theobold and Laura Cooper headed to Brit Chips in Burnham’s Adam Street on Wednesday night (September 29th) where they tucked into their traditional fish and chip suppers at exactly 8pm while being filmed on mobile phones connected to Zoom.

Over 380 people around the country took part in the successful record bid, which had been promoted on social media.

Scott says: “We heard about the world record bid online and thought it would be fun to get involved, helping to set a new world record while enjoying a tasty meal!”

Brit Chips owner Keith Holman, pictured with the two local participants at the start of the bid, said: “We were delighted to be taking part in the event and hope that our customers have helped to set a new record.”

It was understood that a new world record was set, however final verification will take a while to be completed by the organisers of the Guinness World Records.
