Burnham greengrocer celebrates winning regional award for second year

-

A Burnham-On-Sea town centre greengrocer is celebrating this week after winning a top regional award for a second consecutive year.

Gardiner-Whites in Burnham High Street has received a gold ‘Taste of the West’ award for a second year for being one of the region’s best specialist retailers.

Owners Richard and Jax Gardiner-White, pictured, opened Gardiner-Whites in October 2017 in the town centre, offering a mixture of fresh fruit, vegetables and food produce.

Richard told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded our second Taste of West Gold Award!”

“It’s great recognition for all the recent hard work in transforming the shop by introducing a new Salad Bar and Juice Bar – all home-made and served in compostable packaging along with our new local deli produce.”

“The feedback from customers has been absolutely phenomenal. We also had the fantastic news this week that we have retained our five-star rating from the Food Standards Agency after an on-the-spot visit.”

“As always, our shop is driven by our customers and we try our very best to bring in all the fantastic produce they recommend.”

He added: “We have had so much support from the Eat Festivals team, who have helped us develop our Deli/Greengrocery by introducing us to many local producers. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the local tradespeople who helped transform our shop including KDS Kitchens, D K Electrical, R.A Building Services & M&F Flooring.”

“And it’s also really important to thank all our suppliers for helping us to win this Gold Award, as without what them we would be nothing. We absolutely love being part of this amazing town!”

He added: “We have also just employed our first full member of staff, Emily, who has been with us since day one working on Fridays and now has joined us on a permanent basis. She brings lots of new skills to our buisness. We have so many plans for the future including making our own jams, pickles and condiments in house, all thanks to her skillset.”
