Burnham-On-Sea Motor Club has raised £1,200 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance following its annual David Warren Classic Car Tour held this summer.
The popular charity run attracted a full entry this year, giving organisers a welcome boost after last year’s numbers fell short. Kris Puddy from the club says the latest donation brings the total raised from their classic tours to an impressive £13,293.62, adding that the team is “incredibly proud” of what has been achieved.
The day began in Glastonbury at the Abbey Tea Rooms, where Mary Parker and her staff once again donated all the food and their time to support the cause. After signing on, collecting tour packs and enjoying breakfast, entrants set off on a 70‑mile route planned by Chris and Sue House.
The route took drivers through Burrington Combe, Brent Knoll and along Burnham’s seafront, with warm but comfortable weather making for an enjoyable run.
The finish was held at Quantock Lakes, where participants enjoyed a carvery lunch. While organisers tried to keep the vehicles together at the venue, the number of entries made it a challenge to fit all cars in one area. Kris said the full entry — plus reserves — left the team feeling humbled and grateful for the support.
This year’s fundraising total includes donations from Burnham-On-Sea Motor Club, Abbey Tea Rooms and the entrants themselves. Steven and Vicki Morgan were awarded ‘car of the day’ for their standout Escort, chosen by the finish venue as is tradition.
Kris has thanked everyone who took part, noting that several entrants donated more than the fee. She added that the club is already looking forward to raising more money next year.
