Burnham-On-Sea’s Parkinsons Support Group has thanked local residents for the warm response to its first Coffee Morning — and is now encouraging even more people to come along to the next gatherings, which will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Methodist Church in College Street.
The group’s debut event on July 25th drew generous support and a friendly gathering, prompting organisers Lyn and Roger Brooks to make the coffee mornings a regular fixture.
They say they are really hoping residents will continue to support the sessions, with the next one taking place this coming Saturday, August 22nd.
Lyn and Roger say everyone attending can expect a huge welcome, with hot and cold drinks, biscuits and an “amazing raffle” on offer. As before, donations will go directly to the Local Parkinsons Group, with raffle tickets priced at £1 each.
They are also encouraging people to bring friends or neighbours who may enjoy the chance to meet others, chat and support the group’s work. The organisers say the coffee mornings are designed to be friendly, relaxed and open to anyone who wishes to drop in.
The group says the continued support of the community will help them grow the monthly sessions into a valuable social space for those affected by Parkinsons and those who want to help.
