Burnham-On-Sea RNLI has congratulated lifeboat crew member Megan Rundle after she successfully achieved Tier One status during a rescheduled assessment carried out in tough weather conditions.
Megan had originally been due to complete her final assessment on Wednesday 18th March, but the session was postponed when a local shout came in just as the lifeboat was preparing to launch.
The assessment was rearranged for Wednesday 25th, when Megan completed the required tasks despite low temperatures and strong onshore winds.

Megan is already a familiar face to many beachgoers, having served as an RNLI lifeguard in Burnham-On-Sea for the past five summers, with her sixth season ahead. Her connection to the station runs even deeper — her father is a Helm and Launch Authority at Burnham-On-Sea RNLI.
The station currently has four female boat crew members and one female shore crew/head launcher, with Megan’s achievement adding to the growing representation of women within the team.
Launch Authority Nigel Morton praised her determination, saying: “Well done Megan! Not an easy assessment in those arctic conditions!”
The Burnham-On-Sea RNLI team says Megan’s success is a testament to her commitment, skill, and resilience — qualities that continue to strengthen the lifesaving service at the heart of the community.
