Burnham-On-Sea youngster Sam Lodge is desperate to raise almost £4,000 in order to get to the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, North America this summer.

Sam, 13, has been doing lots of charity and community work in order to try and raise enough money to go.

Jacob Kemp, Burnham Scouts Leader, said: “Thank you to everyone who came and supported our recent bingo evening, raising a fantastic £371.85! This money will go a long way to helping Sam get to the World Scout Jamboree in the summer.”

“The whole leadership team are incredibly proud of Sam and all of his fundraising efforts. Sam had to take part in a rigorous selection process to be able to earn his place on World Scout Jamboree team.”

“Sam’s achievement is even more spectacular as he will be one of the youngest Scouts attending the World Scout Jamboree, flying out on his 14th Birthday.”

“Sam has worked really hard doing lots of car boots and loads of other fundraisers as well as spending lots of time training with the rest of his unit. We are really pleased to be able to help Sam like this and know the money raised at the bingo will go a long way in helping Sam meet his fundraising goal, helping him get to North America for the World Scout Jamboree in July.”

Sam says he has to raise £3,995 and “has been doing lots of jobs, including organising car boots and holding a bingo evening, to raise the funds.”

The World Scout Jamboree is an opportunity to meet thousands of fellow Scouts from around the world and embrace different cultures and lifestyles, whilst building new friendships. Activities at the event include team building challenges and all kinds of outdoor activities.
