Burnham-On-Sea Swim & Sports Academy is celebrating a remarkable international success this month after the club’s Masters swimmer Micaela Morris returned from the European Masters Championships with a complete set of medals — gold, silver and bronze, plus a superb fourth-place finish.
It was a standout championships from start to finish, with Mica becoming European Champion in the 50m Backstroke, the highlight of a campaign that saw her consistently among the top swimmers in her events.
She added silver in the 200m Backstroke, bronze in the 100m Backstroke, and finished fourth in the 800m Freestyle, rounding off an exceptional set of results on the European stage.
Throughout her races, the club followed her progress closely as updates came in from the poolside — from the moment she struck gold in the 50m Backstroke to completing her medal trio with bronze in the 100m Backstroke.
The Academy says it is “incredibly proud” to have Mica as part of its thriving Masters squad, describing her achievements as an inspiration to swimmers across the club.
Her performances also shine a light on the growing Masters community at Burnham-On-Sea Swim & Sports Academy, which continues to expand under Head Coach Nic Hazelton, herself a World Masters Champion. A huge congratulations has been shared by everyone at Academy Swim Team.
