Burnham-On-Sea Academy Swim Team is celebrating a fantastic result after securing 3rd place in the Cotswold League B Final following four hard‑fought rounds of competition.
The team travelled to Pontypool in Wales for the final, competing against clubs from across the region, including swimmers from as far afield as Swindon and the Forest of Dean. Their podium finish marks a strong step forward for the club, improving on last year’s 3rd place in the C Final.
Coaches say they are immensely proud of the young swimmers — not only for their performance in the pool, but for the outstanding sportsmanship shown throughout the competition. Older swimmers supported younger teammates, and even those too young to compete made the journey to cheer on the squad.

A spokesperson says: “What makes us most proud isn’t just the result, but the way the whole team pulled together. The support they showed each other through every round was incredible.”
The team also acknowledged the support of Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, whose grant funding helped cover travel costs to away fixtures. “We know public grants can be a sensitive topic, so we want the community to see how these funds directly benefit local children and give them opportunities like this,” the spokesperson added.
Following their success, the club has announced that spaces are now open again for its Junior Squad. Budding young swimmers in the Burnham-On-Sea area are invited to join free trial sessions. Full details can be found on the club’s website at astbos.co.uk.
