A Burnham-On-Sea family is appealing for help from the local community as their teenager works to complete a final college art project that requires thousands of ring pulls from drinks cans.
Phoenyx Strong is studying Level 2 Art and is creating a piece based on the theme of distortion — but despite collecting a large number of ring pulls already, they are still far short of what is needed.
The family is hoping residents across Burnham-On-Sea and the surrounding area will start saving their ring pulls and donating them over the next couple of weeks. The challenge is time‑sensitive, with the project deadline set for May 10th.
Jacqui has installed a collection bin at Burnham tourist information centre on the seafront so that people can easily drop off their saved ring pulls.
Jacqui Strong says any support from the community would make a huge difference. “We’re asking local people to recycle their ring pulls for us — the only challenge is can it be done by May 10th,” she said.
