Burnham could see winds gusting up to 55mph on Friday morning, accompanied by showers of heavy rain, says the Met Office.

Lorenzo was a Category 2 hurricane, with winds of 140mph, when it passed the Azores earlier this week. It has since weakened into a deep low pressure system as it follows a north-easterly track towards the UK and Ireland.

Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, Dan Suri, said: “The remnants of Lorenzo will bring a spell of wet and very windy weather to western parts.”

Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Tony Wardle said: “The remnants of ex-Hurricane Lorenzo will gradually pull away from the UK later on Friday, though it’ll remain unsettled with further spells of wet and windy weather as we head through the weekend.”
