Burnham-On-Sea waterskier makes a splash competing in first regional race

-

A Burnham-On-Sea RNLI lifeboat volunteer has taken to the water in a different way by competing in his first waterski race in Torquay.

Dan Fear came second in the South West regional support race at the weekend and says he loved every minute of it.

Team Speedbird pulled him behind their boat and member Hannah Bird said they were really happy with his dedication to stay on the ski as well as pulling up first time.

“I am a water skier but in a completely different area of the sport as I usually slalom ski, which is probably more like ‘Formula 1’ while speed skiing is a little more like ‘Nascar’, but a great experience to have taken part in.”

“I was chuffed that I managed to get a second place on my first race and help team Speedbird get an overall win for the day. I have to thank the Bird family for offering me the experience.”
