Burnham-On-Sea’s Love Lane to close later this week for resurfacing

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Love Lane is set to close later this week for resurfacing works to be carried out on behalf of Somerset Highways.

Kiely Bros is scheduled to undertake phased works and surface dressing from Thursday 30th April between 10am-1pm for up to five days.

The scheme covers a 2,207ft stretch of road and will include surface dressing, the application of Kiely Lock, stud removal and renewal, and new lining.

It is part of a programme of work across the county recently announced by Somerset Council, as Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here.

Surface dressing is a cost-effective way of restoring the road surface and sealing it in one process. Surface dressing also improves skidding resistance which makes the roads safer; helps to make a road waterproof; and protects the road against frost and water damage which causes potholes.”

The contractor says each phase of work is expected to take one day within the stated period, and the road will reopen whenever no works are taking place. Advanced warning signs will be installed ten days before each closure.

A diversion route will be signposted using solid diamond symbols, and residents and businesses will be contacted directly to discuss access arrangements.

Somerset Highways says it aims to minimise disruption as much as possible while the improvements are carried out.

Information on diversion routes can be found at www.one.network. Anyone needing further details about the works can contact Kiely Bros on 0121 772 3800.
