Burnham-On-Sea’s oldest resident celebrates remarkable 106th birthday

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s oldest living resident, Dorothy Mathews, marked an extraordinary milestone on Friday (April 17th) as she celebrated her 106th birthday.

Surrounded by family, friends, and staff at Beaufort Park retirement home, Dorothy beamed as she opened her official birthday card from King Charles.

She then blew out the candles on her cake to cheers and warm applause.

Residents and staff gathered to sing Happy Birthday.

Speaking to Burnham-On-Sea.com during the celebrations, Dorothy said she was thoroughly enjoying her special day.

A lifelong lover of classical music, especially choral pieces, Dorothy also cherishes time with her family.

Born in Cornwall, she has two daughters who joined her to make the day extra special.

Dorothy has lived at Beaufort Park for around two and a half years, where staff describe her as a “wonderful, popular resident” at the home.

Longevity clearly runs in the family — one of Dorothy’s relatives lived to the age of 110.
