Pupils and staff at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery in Burnham-On-Sea have marked the season of Easter with a series of meaningful celebrations and activities.
The Easter journey began in the classroom, where the youngest children learned about Palm Sunday during their RE lessons. Pupils across the school explored the story of Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem, discussing the symbolism of palm leaves and how Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week.

As part of the school’s preparations, the whole community attended a special Easter Mass, offering a time for prayer, reflection and celebration. The service focused on the message of hope and new life that Easter brings, giving pupils the chance to come together in faith and reverence.
A particularly moving moment came during the Stations of the Cross, which were confidently led by the Year 6 pupils. Through readings, prayers and moments of quiet reflection, they retold the events of Jesus’ journey to the cross. Their maturity and leadership were praised by staff, while younger pupils listened with great respect and gained a deeper understanding of the significance of Holy Week.

The term ended on a joyful note with the school’s much‑loved Easter Bonnet Parade. Pupils proudly showcased their handmade creations, decorated with spring flowers, chicks and colourful eggs. The parade filled the playground with colour and smiles, providing a fun and uplifting finale to the term.
The school has thanked families for their continued support and praised the Year 6 pupils for leading such a meaningful Stations of the Cross. Staff say the celebrations have helped make Easter a memorable and enriching time for everyone at St Joseph’s.
