Burnham-On-Sea’s Sue Nicholls, 73, completes Norway’s Midnight Sun Marathon

-

A Burnham-On-Sea pensioner travelled to Tromsø in Norway’s Arctic Circle to compete in the Midnight Sun Marathon on the longest day of the year.

Sue Nicholls, 73, finished the 26 miles in a time of 4 hours, 30 minutes and 42 seconds, winning her age category despite “incessant rain.”

She described the marathon as “a thoroughly nice run,” adding that it “was a little undulating in places but quite scenic.”

Her sons Stu and Al Tilley were also there and ran the half marathon. They are pictured here with her.

In April, Sue completed her eighth London Marathon to win her age category. Sue has finished 18 marathons in all.

In 2017, we reported here that Sue had been awarded a medal in recognition of her completing marathons in London, Boston, Tokyo, New York, Chicago and Berlin. She also completed China’s Great Wall Marathon last year.
