Burnham‑On‑Sea Sailing Club members have carried out a major clean‑up of their boatyard ahead of next month’s annual crane‑out, with volunteers giving up part of their Bank Holiday to help prepare the site.
Commodore Michael Clarke said the yard had become untidy after a busy summer season, with heavy machinery and equipment needing to be moved and organised before the autumn work begins.

Local firm Plantforce of Weston stepped in to support the effort, offering advice on what machinery was required and then providing the equipment needed for the clean‑up.
A group of club members took part, spending several hours clearing, shifting and tidying the yard to ensure it is ready for the crane‑out on 12th October, when 14 yachts will be lifted out of the river for the winter.

Michael Clarke said the strong turnout showed the commitment of the club’s members and added that the support from Plantforce had been invaluable in helping them get the work done efficiently.
