Burnham’s BARB Search & Rescue held a successful community open on Saturday 2nd May when local residents were able to find out more about its work along the coastline.
The event, held at BARB’s seafront hovercraft station, had a Hawaiian theme and give visitors the chance to meet the volunteer crew, explore the organisation’s rescue hovercrafts, and learn more about the life‑saving work carried out along the Somerset coastline.

One of the highlights was ‘Pooches on Parade’, a fun dog walk setting off from The Esplanade to the Sailing Club attended by around 20 dogs and their owners.
A spokesperson said: “A huge thank you to everyone who supported BARB’s community open day and ‘pooches on parade’ event, which was a great success, we had a good turnout of visitors through the day and thank our volunteers for their time and getting into the spirit of the occasion with Hawaii-themed clothing!”
