A car was left severely damaged after a blaze in Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday morning.

One fire crew from Burnham was called to Burnham Road, near the entrance to the BAY Centre, at 8am following several calls from nearby residents reporting the Skoda Octavia well alight.

Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze and quickly brought it under control.

“The cause of the fire was accidental, and is understood to have been started by a suspected fuel leak when the engine management light came on,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
