Children at St Joseph’s Catholic Nursery School in Burnham-On-Sea have enjoyed a fun‑filled themed day to celebrate World Very Hungry Caterpillar Day.
Nursery teacher Hannah Lovibond‑Stephens said the youngsters embraced the occasion by dressing up in bright caterpillar and butterfly outfits before taking part in a series of creative activities inspired by the much‑loved storybook.
She said the children made their own caterpillar hats, created butterfly‑shaped sandwiches, and used story stones to bring the tale to life during group reading time. The day ended with a picnic featuring a chocolate caterpillar cake that proved very popular.
Hannah added that the themed day was a wonderful way to spark imagination and encourage early literacy through play.
