Brean’s Beachside Holiday Park will be hosting their third annual classic car show today (Sunday, June 11th).

The holiday park in Coast Road, Brean will hold the event run by Bridgwater Classic & Vintage Club along with their sponsors at the Sundowner cafe.

Organiser Rob Coombes told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Last year we had around 50 classic cars attend, ranging from vehicles from when Britain was the world leader in automotive engineering, to cars from the USA and across Europe and Japan. The highlight of the day was a flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s Supermarine Spitfire and the Hawker Hurricane.”

“This year’s show has grown to over 100 exhibits including a 4 1/2 inch scale steam traction engine.”

“There will also be a live group playing on the sundeck and some children’s fair ground rides and games to have a go on.”

“There is hot food and drinks available and good disabled access. But as like last year the highlight of the day will be another flypast from the BBMF but this year we are having the Douglas DC3 Dakota paying us a visit (subject to conditions).”

“The Douglas C-47 Dakota is without doubt one of the most successful aircraft designs in history. It became one of the world’s most famous military transport aircraft and saw widespread use by the Allies during World War Two and subsequently by air forces and civilian operators worldwide.”

“The show is totally free to enter, parking on site is limited but for a small fee there is additional parking on the beach with the entrance to the show accessible from all sides.”

“We will again be raising funds for the Somerset & Dorset Air Ambulance whose representatives will be on site with their merchandise tent on the day.”

The show opens at 10am and runs until around 4.30pm.
